Grooming

GROOMING
Get your poodle used to being groomed since he was a puppy, for him the cleaning operations should be seen as a fun game, which is part of his daily routine: otherwise, don´t be surprised if after months that the dog lives with you the first every time you pick up the brush your dog rebels, after all why would he passively accept a strange gadget that you insist on passing all over his body? Grooming must become a moment of intimacy between dog and owner; if your poodle is well accustomed from an early age, he will end up falling asleep while you brush him, enjoying your physical contact in a relaxed way.
We start grooming puppies from the first month of age when the muzzle is shaved for the first time, not so much out of real necessity but to accustom the little one to the noise and contact with the machine.
THE BATHROOM
Since time immemorial there has been a legend that the dog should be washed once a year, because otherwise the grease in the fur gets ruined... these rumors were perhaps valid when dogs lived in courtyards and stables, therefore the myth needs to be debunked. On average, however, a pet dog should be washed every fortnight if it has long hair and every 20/30 days if it has short hair. A show dog should be washed every 7/10 days depending on the color (white, gray and fawn poodles should be washed more often) and in any case before a show.
It is a good idea for Poodle puppies to be used to bathing from a very young age. We give them their first bath at around 2 months after the first vaccine, so that they get used to contact with water immediately and to the hairdryer. All our puppies are delivered washed, groomed and accustomed to these practices
WHICH PRODUCTS TO USE
always use excellent quality shampoos, which allow frequent washing without damaging the hair texture or the dog´s skin. Shampoo should always be diluted in warm water before being used. In the case of white poodles, the use of whitening shampoo must be alternated with a neutral one, as continued use of the whitener leads to a gradual graying of the fur.
as with shampoo, use good quality conditioners, there are various types on the market, so you will choose one suitable for your poodle´s hair. If the hair tends to tangle easily, you will prefer slightly "heavier" conditioners which make it easier to use the brush and prevent the hair from felting. If the fur is sparse or too soft, you will use a specific conditioner to give volume and improve texture.

WE USE AND RECOMMEND THE “YUUP” LINE IN WHICH YOU CAN FIND THE MOST SUITABLE PRODUCT FOR YOUR BUM WHETHER FOR EXPO OR COMPANY
PUPPY GROOMING
As I have already said, we accustom our puppies to various grooming operations from an early age, such as shaving their faces, feet, bathing and brushing. It will then be the owner´s responsibility to maintain these habits by carrying out these operations personally or by regularly taking the dog to the groomer,
GROOMING
There are many "pet" grooming options, and they can satisfy the owner´s tastes. The important thing is that the muzzle is always kept shaved so as not to distort the dog´s nature and to better appreciate the multiple expressions that would otherwise be hidden by an ugly beard. Always rely on an expert groomer who will be able to advise you in choosing the line that best suits your needs
SHOW LINES
The poodle is one of the few breeds whose standard indicates the type of grooming it must undergo in order to be presented at a dog show. Poodles that are not groomed according to the Standard cannot be judged.
The grooming methods allowed regardless of the dog´s age are the following: PUPPY, CONTINENTAL, ENGLISH SADDLE, TERRIER and MODERNA. obviously with all their variations, which change from country to groomer, but they must still maintain the basic line. Grooming should be chosen based on the dog´s structure and the owner´s taste. In this case it will be necessary to contact an expert groomer, who knows the show lines and knows how to adequately enhance the dog.
